£1million fundraising campaign announced at Sir Simon Hornby Memorial Lecture

3 Mar 2011

Last night (2 March), on the eve of World Book day, the National Literacy Trust held a fundraising lecture in memory of our founder, Sir Simon Hornby.

At the lecture it was announced that there has been a 100% cut to our government funding, therefore, in order to ensure our vital work can continue, we will need to raise £1million.

£1million will help us:

  • Provide disadvantaged children with free books, opening up a new world of reading.
  • Help parents to support their children’s literacy and language skills.
  • Work with disadvantaged teenagers improving their communication skills in preparation for working life.
  • Support families and adults with community-based projects that develop reading and writing skills.

You can help us to raise this money by signing up to our Love Reading: Love Literacy campaign, and donate £10 per month. For more details.
