Love Reading? Love Literacy this World Book Day

14 Feb 2011

Do you love getting into a good book? Can you imagine not being able to read your favourite novel? Or even a job application or a recipe? Start sharing your passion this World Book Day by committing to a regular donation to the National Literacy Trust.

One in four children in the UK does not own a book of their own. Without books they cannot experience the joy of reading, nor reap the benefits reading for pleasure has on educational success. Without reading they will not gain the skills and knowledge they need to succeed at school and as adults they will have limited opportunities.

Just £10 a month could help the National Literacy Trust to reach 36 families a year through motivational reading events, inspiring them to improve their literacy skills and reach their full potential.

This World Book Day the charity is asking everyone in the UK to commit to making a monthly donation by either setting up a direct debit or donating through Justgiving.

Donations will help children and young people with poor literacy skills improve their chances of success at school and throughout life.

You can make every £1 that you donate worth another 28p to the National Literacy Trust with Gift Aid.
