National Literacy Trust government funding decision not yet announced

22 Dec 2010

Last month (21 December 2010) Channel 4 News reported that we had lost our government funding for our book gifting programmes. We would like to clarify that this was an error and they were in fact talking about fellow literacy charity Booktrust.

The National Literacy Trust has not received notification with regards to our government funding for the coming year. In addition to statutory funding, we receive significant support from trusts and foundations and corporates. In preparation for the possible loss of government support, we have been working hard to develop our business models and fundraising activity, including our recently launched personal giving campaign calling on people to give the gift of reading this Christmas. If you would like to give the gift of reading or find out how you could support the National Literacy Trust please visit our support pages here.
