National Association of Children’s Centres is calling for leaders to join
15 Oct 2010
The National Association of Children’s Centres is a steering group launched by the Pen Green Centre for Children and Families in Northamptonshire. Pen Green is urging children’s centre leaders to join as the group will be focused on widening Continuing Professional Development opportunities and learning networks.
Pen Green has also launched a report, Critical issues for 21st century children’s centres, which suggests that future policy could see children’s centres which provide childcare become the preferred provision model. Children’s centres ability to prioritise disadvantaged families is a strength which private nurseries cannot match because of their commercial concerns. The report also suggests that children’s centres hold the opportunity for remodelling; allowing local communities to assess their needs and redesign service deliver to cater to specific wants.
