A day without words...

14 Oct 2010

To launch our new campaign for individual fundraising, our Director Jonathan Douglas has agreed to a day without words. On 5 November Jonathan will not be allowed to speak a word during the whole of the working day in order to emphasise the importance of speaking as a vital literacy skill.

We are asking our supporters to imagine what your lives would be like if you were unable to communicate effectively and hope to draw your attention to the equal importance of good speaking and listening skills, as well as reading and writing.

Staff at the National Literacy Trust (as well as many of his friends!) are keen to sponsor Jonathan to keep silent for the day. Perhaps you would be keen to organise a similar event with your boss. Please email us for ideas and advice or visit our fundraising and events page for more inspiration.

Alternatively, why not sponsor Jonathan via his justgiving page and help us to raise much needed funds so that we can try to ensure that everyone in the UK gets the literacy support they need.
