Annie Mauger announced as new CILIP chief executive as Bob McKee retires

9 Jul 2010

Annie Mauger has been appointed the new chief executive of Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP), replacing Bob McKee, who retires in October.

Most recently acting Chief Executive for Bradford Action for Refugees, Mauger has worked as a consultant to charities and public sector bodies. She was Chief Executive of the Museums, Libraries and Archives (MLA) Yorkshire until its closure and was head of libraries and heritage for the City of York Council.

Of her new role, she says:

"I am utterly thrilled to have been chosen for this exciting and challenging role. To be able to lead the organisation that supports and promotes the committed, clever, innovative and hard working people who deliver library and information services across all sectors is a huge honour and a great responsibility."

Nigel Macartney, leader of the CILIP Council and Chair of the Appointment Panel, says:

"Annie's experience as a senior library and information professional and as one who has worked, and led, across sector boundaries for the MLA makes her an ideal appointment."

Mauger has also been Chair of the both the Scottish and National CILIP Community Services Group as well as serving on CILIP's Audit Panel. She has also been an executive member of the Society of Chief Librarians.

Mauger will begin her role on 1 November.
