Mothers vote for staying at home

18 Feb 2010

5,900 mothers responded to the survey run by Netmums looking at the top ten issues that mothers would vote on; support for stay-at-home mums was the top concern for 57 per cent of the respondents.

One mother wrote: “There has been a big focus on pushing parents back into work with a lack of foresight into what the long-term effects may be on the children. Parents who do not live off benefits but who choose to stay at home and look after their children full time should be celebrated.”

The second biggest concern for mothers was the availability of flexible working opportunities; the third top concern was a desire for better quality and more affordable childcare options to help working mothers.

The full survey findings can be seen on the Netmums website.
