About Literacy Leaders
Literacy Leaders is a bespoke, whole-school approach for secondary schools. The project aims to empower, encourage and support students to promote reading for enjoyment, mentor younger students and provide authentic opportunities for writing. This provides students with an opportunity to be agents of change within their schools.
Our evaluation in 2015/16 showed that, as a result of participating in the project as Literacy Leaders, students were significantly more likely to want to do more for their community than their peers. Additionally, a majority of all students enjoyed reading more following the project.
