Dyspel was created in 1995 in an effort to reduce crime in the capital by helping the large number of repeat offenders who are dyslexic to become aware of, and overcome, their difficulties. Dyspel supports dyslexic socially excluded and disadvantaged people in the community.

Prisoners' Education Trust
is a charity established in 1989 to extend the range of education available to people in prison and promote its importance to successful resettlement of offenders once they are released. It provides grants to prisoners, the majority of which are to support distance learning (correspondence courses).

Women in Prison
is a charity that works with women at risk of going to prison, in prison and after release to promote their resettlement, personal development, education and training. It also aims to educate the public and policymakers about women in the criminal justice system and promote alternatives to custody.
