Statement

Raj Mehta is a highly respected educator with over 20 years experience in primary education in inner city London schools. Her most recent role was Local Authority Consultant delivering the highly successful National Strategies’ Communication, Language and Literacy Programme to senior leaders, teachers and teaching assistants to raise standards in Early Literacy. Over the years Raj, held various senior roles including, Assessment Leader, English as an Additional Language Teacher, Humanities Leader, and International Team Leader and class teacher. Her specialism’s are teaching and leading early literacy, systematic synthetic phonics, teaching English as a second language, raising achievement of ethnic minority pupils, assessment for learning and curriculum design. Raj recognises that each school is different with its own priorities, therefore offers consultancy and training that is tailored to meet the individual needs of schools and designed to help school leaders meet the latest developments in education policy and legislation. Raj is passionate about every child performing to the best of his/her ability. She works with great drive, energy and integrity in partnership with schools to empower teachers to deliver the best to children. As a qualified coach, she uses coaching techniques to unlock the potential of teachers and leaders to maximise performance.

Areas of work

Some areas of support: attainment in early literacy including phonics, leadership of early language and literacy, driving school improvement in reading and writing ,using pupils premium effectively to raise standards and narrow the gaps in literacy, supporting parents with their child’s literacy development, the role of talk within the writing curriculum, supporting EAL pupils, literacy across the curriculum, using stories and philosophy for children to embed a global dimension to the curriculum.

Raj is renowned for her hands on training and consultancy for maintained schools, free schools and primary academies to empower teachers and leaders to achieve the best possible outcomes for all children. She delivers INSET, twilight sessions, workshops, staff meeting and bespoke consultancy for schools. She values collaborative work with schools clusters.
