Statement

I am a consultant for schools and other organisations seeking to develop children’s literacy. Through my company, Three Bears Literacy Consultancy Ltd, I aim to provide bespoke professional learning opportunities that are ‘just right’ for your needs. I use a balance of creativity, proven school improvement strategies, and practical ideas that work in the classroom. I’m passionate about inspiring a love of English in children and adults alike, to expand our mastery of the English language. Previously I worked for several years as a Primary National Strategy Literacy Consultant. Most recently I held the role of Lead Adviser for Primary English at Northamptonshire Local Authority.

Areas of work

Teaching and Learning in English, leadership and staff development, improving writing, subject leadership, grammar subject knowledge, phonics and spelling, reading comprehension, improving boys’ literacy, planning for progression, speaking and listening, AfL, APP, Talk for Writing, Support for Writing, Drama for Writing, developing text-based literacy units, early reading skills, Narrowing the Gap, extending more able, Gifted and Talented, building independence and self-esteem.

Services

Staff training through training days, staff meetings and twilight sessions, coaching and 1:1 support, whole day, half-day and twilight training courses, Subject Leader development, Lesson study, team teaching and classroom-based support, advice on strategic Literacy developments, facilitation of collaborative projects, cluster and inter-school training, school improvement projects including working with authors.
