Statement

I have extensive experience of working in partnership with teachers, schools and local authorities nationally and regionally (SW) to improve teaching and learning, especially in Literacy. Prior to Consultant and Adviser posts in local authorities and National Strategies, I worked in a range of primary schools as a class teacher and senior leader. All I do is firmly rooted in enabling best classroom practice; Literacy is central to the Primary curriculum and children need rich learning experiences across the curriculum and high quality teaching to support and develop learning and so equip them with skills for life. I have led action research projects and also worked closely with teams of leading teachers and subject leaders in networks and clusters, producing high quality materials to support this. I was a major contributor to the National Strategies ‘Talk for Writing’ materials, leading the pilot project. I regularly lead INSETs with schools to address their priorities and I am also an Associate trainer and consultant with The National Literacy Trust, leading Talk for Writing training nationally and also writing resources to support its implementation.
