Statement

I believe passionately that the development of speaking and listening skills and the encouragement of a habit of regularly reading for pleasure are the keys to success. A former Head of English and Leading English and Literacy Across the Curriculum Adviser for a London Borough, I now work as an independent English and Literacy consultant. I am committed to enabling schools to improve attainment through developing a whole school cross-curricular approach to literacy; the corollary of which is a significant improvement in the quality of teaching and learning. As a literacy consultant I have worked with most subject departments across the curriculum in both primary and secondary schools. I support curriculum leaders, teachers and students to develop a whole school approach to literacy. Identifying and working with departmental Literacy Champions to conduct reviews and develop resources is key to the success of this work.
