Promoting literacy through the power of sport

  • RTG programmes
What has Reading The Game achieved?

To date RTG has:
  • linked with over 50 football clubs from all leagues, in multiple projects, which use the motivational power of sport to encourage reading and literacy.
  • helped create over 100 Reading Champions from the world of professional football to act as reading role models.
  • helped nearly 10,000 children to choose and keep more than 27,000 books through Reading Is Fundamental, UK (RIF).
  • brought the benefits of storytelling to over 14,000 children through Kick into Reading.
  • created a football-based DVD designed to promote reading which ihas been provided free to all state schools and public libraries in England.
  • produced reading promotion posters featuring football Reading Champions.
  • created football based literacy activities for practioners.
  • conducted numerous training sessions and workshops for a variety of practioners across the country.
