How you can get involved

It is hoped that every organisation that works with parents will get involved with the campaign by thinking about how it can encourage family reading. The campaign is being launched on Monday January 15 at The Oval in Lambeth as part of Family Reading Fortnight.

Family Reading Fortnight

StorytimeFamily Reading Fortnight runs from 8-20 January. It is a chance for people working in all sectors to celebrate the work they are doing to promote family reading. You can see some of the family reading activity that's going on in the Family Reading Campaign case studies.

The campaign launch has been planned to coincide with the launch of the parent strand of the BBC's RaW (Reading and Writing) campaign. The BBC has produced a parents' storytelling pack - a bumper pack of stories, stickers and ideas to help support parents in reading with their children. For more information on how to order visit www.bbc.co.uk/raw. More information about the campaign can be found at www.bbc.co.uk/raw/campaign/.

From after-school reading cafes to reading events on the SS Great Britain, families around the country are being encouraged to share books together. Libraries are also running lots of activity to support the campaign - contact your local library to find out what's going on in your area and to see how your organisation could join in. You can find your local library at: www.findyourlibrary.co.uk.
