Due to overwhelming demand, Pie Corbett will demonstrate how the Talk for Writing approach is a powerful way of motivating young children to significantly improve their storytelling and writing skills thereby creating an excellent foundation on which to build their linguistic skills. This day will also focus on engaging early years families in supporting their children’s literacy development, even in the most deprived of areas. What will you learn?
The conference will provide all the training needed to set up the approach in your school. As well as explaining the principles and strategies behind Talk for writing, it will show how the approach enables families and schools to work together. You will learn a series of engaging, unthreatening activities to use with families to help develop children’s linguistic abilities as well as build positive relationships with schools. The content in these conferences will be different from previously held Talk for Writing conferences.
2011 conference delegates quoted:
Inspiring. This will influence and change my approach to how I teach. I’ll pass this on to the whole school so we can make a difference for the future generation.
It was clear to see how storytelling can be embedded in the curriculum to enhance teaching and learning.
