Pie Corbett will show how the Talk for Writing approach can be adapted to underpin pupils’ progress in all aspects of the new curriculum. The day will include examples of a half-termly literacy unit for key stage 1 and 2, showing how literacy can be strengthened and embedded across the curriculum, with a particular focus on non-fiction. This approach will not only raise literacy standards but also improve achievement in other subjects.What will you learn?
You will learn how to implement Talk for Writing effectively across the new curriculum in your school, focusing specifically on non-fiction and the six related non-fiction text types. Examples will show you how to embed skills learnt in English in practice across all areas of the new curriculum.The content in these conferences will be different from previously held Talk for Writing conferences.
This conference takes place in Manchester on 20 June 2012, Bristol on 21 June 2012, and London on 22 June 2012.
