Guidance for larger early years settings
e.g. nursery schools and children’s centres

  • Meet with a group of interested and enthusiastic colleagues who will get behind Early Reading Connects and help to drive it forward.
  • Complete the Evaluation grid by reflecting on the current practice and policies in your setting.
  • Generate two or three action points for your setting to work on initially. Do not overload yourselves and try to give yourselves achievable targets. Use the grid for ideas as well as the Family involvement toolkit and the website.
  • Introduce Early Reading Connects to staff as a whole. This could be carried out in a staff meeting using the Early Reading Connects PowerPoint presentation.
  • Start to put your action points into practice. Remember to share the launch of Early Reading Connects with parents and families.
