Foundation years training and consultancy

Early language and communication is at the heart of what we do. Over the last decade, our Talk To Your Baby campaign has been successfully raising awareness of the importance of early communication, language and literacy by supporting practitioners as they encourage parents to talk and engage with their children. We have worked with many early years practitioners, managers and local authority leaders, as well as health workers. Our foundation years training and consultancy continues this work.

Training

Our foundation years training is specifically designed to support those working across the sector, from frontline staff, to leaders and managers. We offer a range of training sessions, including:

  • Attachment, communication and language
From the start of life to the terrific (or terrible!) twos. For baby room practitioners and leaders, early years professionals, children’s centre staff, midwives and health visitors.
  • Promoting family literacy in the foundation years
Strengthening the home learning environment. For early years practitioners, children’s centre staff, health visitors, teachers, library staff and community organisations.
  • Talking matters
Why and how, including English as an additional language. For early years practitioners, health visitors, nurseries and children’s centres.
  • Books matter
Sharing books and stories, including creating story areas that engage children. For early years practitioners, nurseries and children’s centres.

Prices start from:

£850 for a full-day session for a maximum of 20 participants.

Consultancy

We offer consultancy to private, statutory, community and voluntary organisations to assist with a wide range of activity focused on communication, language and literacy in the early years.

If you are interested in our consultancy support please email support@literacytrust.org.uk.

We can also provide speakers for conferences focusing on early years. If you'd like us to share our passion for early communication and language, please email us for more information.

I felt really privileged to be part of the training today. My head is bursting with so many valuable ideas to share with my team.
