Neil Wilson

Neil WilsonNeil Wilson is Executive Head Teacher of the South Manchester International Learning Enterprise Foundation Trust (SMILE), 3-19. During his leadership of the Federation of schools, Neil has prioritised engaging young people and their families to improve speech, language and communication, because research shows that those with good SLC skills are upwardly mobile and those who don’t have these skills are not – their life chances are dependent on their ability to communicate. Through this focus, the Federation has significantly improved the numbers of young people going into good employment or university, with NEETs being reduced from 15% in 2009 to less than 2% in 2011.
