David Mitchell

David Mitchell, headteacher at Heathfield Primary School, Bolton, has won a wide range of ICT awards for his school. Following the introduction of blogging to engage disaffected pupils, Level 5 writing levels rose from 9% to 63% in one year, with pupils in Year 6 making on average 6.6 points progress in writing. These headline figures helped generate significant media interest. Heathfield was awarded the Toshiba ICT Award in November 2010. David, a Google Certified Teacher, was awarded the Microsoft Innovative Teacher Award for his work on blogging in November 2010 followed by the NAACE ICT Impact Award in Primary Education in March 2011.
