DfE Business Plan and Impact Indicators

14 Dec 2010

The Department for Education has published a business plan setting out its timetable for reform, with six commitments framing its work for the next five years. These commitments include reducing bureaucracy and improving accountability, improving support for children, young people and families and introducing more support for the Early Years.

Eight impact indicators accompany the commitments, providing a framework against which the public will be able measure the success of the reforms and hold the government to account.

Our impact indicators are designed to help the public to judge whether our policies and reforms are having the effect they want.

This implies that local authorities will be required to gather and submit data around these indicators; including narrowing the gap in education attainment and ensuring a strong start for disadvantaged children.
