What is it about reading about reading that you find so enjoyable?
Reading is truly portable entertainment. You can read at any time and in any place. It takes you out of the world you are in and into the world of the author, but it is only bounded by your own imagination.

Why do you think reading is important?
Reading is important at a young age to help develop skills that will be needed later in life. The ability to take in information and gain an understanding from that information is a skill vital for everyday life. It also promotes vocabulary growth and teaches the imagination not to be limited by the images forced into it by movies and TV games. As an adult reading is important to prevent the mind from stagnating.

What are your top five reads of all time?
1. Matilda - Roald Dahl
2. Calvin and Hobbs comics - Bill Waterson
3. Angels and Demons - Dan Brown
4. No.1 Ladies Detective Agency - Alexander MacCall-Smith
5. The Power of One - Bryce Courtney

What inspired you to read?
Growing up in Africa I love African legends and I loved to listen to stories about when 'Hippo was hairy' and 'how Leopard got his spots'. My mother, being a keen reader, used to read to me from a very young age and encouraged me to read with her. This developed into me reading children's books and comics like Calvin and Hobbs. As a teenager I found authors that I liked, like Colin Forbes and Tom Clancy, and lately Vince Flynn, Dan Brown and Alexander MacCall-Smith.
