Joe Sayers
Joe is a highly talented opening batsman who has an excellent cricket brain and was touted as a future captain of both Yorkshire and England before even making his first class debut for the county. He is a former England Under 19 captain and his performances as skipper of Oxford University, which included first class centuries in both the 2003 and 2004 seasons, have earned him a lot of respect. Joe has a degree in physics and in his spare time likes to read autobiographies, playing the guitar and listening to music.

What is it about reading about reading that you find so enjoyable?
Reading books is relaxing and is an effective way to 'switch off' from your day. Reading offers the opportunity to learn and improve your vocabulary.

Why do you think reading is important?
You can learn a great deal by reading, both about the subject matter and the language used to describe it.

What are your top five reads of all time?

3. Leadership - Roy Giuiliam
4. Meg and Mog children's books
5. A Long Way from Penny Apples - Bill Cullen

What was it that inspired you to become a reader?
Having left university reading provided a good way of continuing to learn and an effective way of switching off and relaxing at the end of the day.
