England cricketers Matthew Hoggard,
Monty Panesar and Andrew Strauss are among
the latest sporting stars to show their support for
the National Reading Campaign initiative Reading Champions.
The international cricket players are pictured taking
time out to read between matches on a new set of free
posters produced by Reading Champions and the Cricket
Foundation's Chance to Shine (www.chancetoshine.org),
supported by the England and Wales Cricket Board (www.ecb.co.uk).
"When people see that their heroes make time to
read, it can help to change attitudes towards reading.
Sport has great motivational power and broad appeal,
so it's fantastic that these top cricketers have given
their support to Reading Champions by setting such
a positive example."
Jim Knight, minister of state for schools

| The three A2
posters shown above are available free to schools, libraries,
prisons, sports clubs and other educational institutions.
You can order online, but hurry
because they will go faster than a Freddie Flintoff fast
bowl.
As well as these stunning new posters, 15 County Cricket
Clubs have nominated players as Reading Champions. Use
the links below to find out what your favourite players
think about reading. Or download the complete list of
the favourite reads, which includes adult and children's
books, and supporting quotes from the players.

quotes and book choices
"Reading can turn boring hours into enjoyable
ones - it is something you can do anywhere and at
anytime. Books are cheap, portable and never run out
of battery life."
Ed Smith, Middlesex
