Reading Angels framework

Reading Angels works in the same way as Reading Champions. Girls can work through a framework of increasingly motivational activities. There are three levels of award for girls to work towards, bronze, silver and gold. The external recognition (certificates, badges and online nomination) from the National Reading Campaign is still only reserved for boys. However, you can now download and print specially designed Reading Angels certificates for the girls from the resources area.

Reading Angels bronze award

Bronze Reading Angels stand up and declare their enthusiasm for reading.
For example a bronze Reading Angel may:
- write outstanding book reviews or recommendations
- take part in reading buddying activity
- help out in the school library

Reading Angels silver awardSilver Reading Angels are involved in schemes to encourage other girls to read.
For example a silver Reading Angel may:
-
help to organise a recommended reads display
- help run a reading group
- write an article about a favourite read for a school publication or website

Reading Angels gold awardGold Reading Angels make an outstanding contribution to the school reading culture.
For example a gold Reading Angel may:
- instigate a reading-based event
- represent the girls on a local library's young person's advisory board
- organise a reading for pleasure stall at parents' evening
