Parents now make time for reading

1 Feb 2011

May Lin Goh, from Netley Primary School is one of our project coordinators who runs motivational reading events in her school. She has witnessed not just changes in the children who take part, but also the impact this has on their families.

The impact has been huge, not just in terms of each child's reading interest and progress made in class in their reading ability but also in the parents’ attitudes towards the importance of reading with their child and taking an interest generally. One boy's parents have now joined the local library and take their son to bookshops, neither of which used to happen as they always said that they were too busy to sit down and share a book. They now make the time.
