Success stories

Involving fathers with their sons' literacy

1 Feb 2011

In 2009/10 we piloted a hands-on approach for involving male family members in children’s education. Boys who would particularly benefit from being supported with their reading at home were chosen to take part in a series of inspiring events with their fathers. The pilot had a significant impact on the boys’ attitudes to reading and also made the fathers realise the extent of their impact on their sons’ educations.

Without the National Literacy Trust project I would not be reading with my boy. Definitely, definitely guaranteed. I would not be doing it.
