Reading campaign reaches millions

30 Apr 2009

In 2008 we led the National Year of Reading, which aimed to promote reading in the family and beyond and help build a nation of readers.

Our campaigning work reached 13 million people from our target audience and saw 2.3 million people join their local library. Our advocacy for family literacy, reading for pleasure and boys’ reading has placed these issues firmly at the top of national and regional agendas.

Our Reading for Life campaign continues to work with those disengaged from reading and literacy, promoting the benefits of reading at all stages of life and providing free resources for children and families.
