Lauren Child

Lauren Child. Photo: Polly Borland Writer and illustrator Lauren Child is best known for her Clarice Bean series and the Charlie and Lola picture books, which have been adapted for BBC TV. Her most recent work includes the Ruby Redfort teen detective series and a picture book called The New Small Person. In 2010 she was awarded an MBE for services to literature.

Lauren has been a fantastic supporter of the National Literacy Trust since 2010 and is a regular guest author at our annual gala dinner. In 2013 she officially launched a school library makeover at St John the Baptist Primary School, Hackney and in 2014 she designed the striking Clarice Bean BookBench, which was displayed on the streets of London as part of our Books about Town project.
