Katrina's
Love
by
Jennifer, age 15
Katrina struck the state
Disaster following its path
The deafening screams before the wait
And the country felt its wrath
Memories taking to the sky
All of them lost
And the sound of a cry
Gave a terrifying cost
In so much pain
But the feeling was gone
A feeling of strain
And the love went on
And then it stops
The destruction paused
And the panic drops
Time to reflect on what has been caused
People brought close
And the feeling is good
In a city of ghosts
The love, grown, like it should
