Have you ever wondered what it would be like to ride a dragon?
Joanna ‘Jo-Jo’ Morris is a schoolgirl with an ordinary life (complete with annoying brother) when she spots something moving on the clock tower at the top of Lambeth Town Hall. She soon discovers a world she’d never dreamed existed and that Brixton Caves, under the Town Hall, are hiding a dragon – and not just any dragon, a racing dragon!
The dragon has a team of special assistants, and Jo-Jo joins them as a Flyer. Although very young, she turns outs to be extremely talented, and is quickly drawn into the exciting world of competitive dragon racing.

Dragon Racer is author Margaret Bateson Hill's first full-length novel for children and took her around six years to write. Margaret got the idea for the book at a storytelling week in Shropshire when her tutor asked everyone to think about what their 'secret selves' might do. Margaret thought her secret self might race dragons kept in caves under her local Town Hall! Visit the book's website at www.jojodragonflyer.co.uk for more information.
For a chance to win the book, we want to hear about who you think your 'secret self' might be. Perhaps you're an Egyptian princess, a medieval knight or a time-travelling spy? You can be anything you like, just use your imagination!
The 'secret self' that the RIF team think is the most creative and interesting will win a signed copy of Dragon Racer. Good luck!
