Research
The National Literacy Trust's research aims to improve literacy attitudes, habits and skills by informing and inspiring policy and practice.
We use a variety of research methodologies in order to develop cutting-edge thinking and effective practice that can improve literacy outcomes. Through our extensive survey work, we provide a platform for children, young people, their parents and literacy practitioners to voice their views on a variety of literacy subjects. We also conduct literature reviews that build on pre-existing knowledge from research and practice to provide evidence on numerous literacy issues. When evaluating the impact of our own projects, we use a range of approaches, including interviews, focus groups and surveys to fully understand the impact and value of our work.
Underpinning all our research and evaluation activity is a commitment to evidence-based policy and practice, which empowers learners of all ages and supports professionals.
