Resources

One of Reading The Game's roles is to create and find resources and good practice which use football to promote literacy. We then share them online so that everyone can use the motivational power of football to foster a love of reading. Football reads

A free reading promotion DVD has been created for every state school and public library in England. All DVDs have now been distributed, but there are still a handful left at RTG HQ - email irfan.master@literacytrust.org.uk if you are desparate to get your hands on a copy. We will be making a new film in 2009, in the meantime you can watch inspiring RTG films on YouTube Please watch this space for an update.

The Newspaper

The Newspaper
A wonderful resource for 8 to 14-year-olds packed with topical discussions and articles for, from and about young people. The Newspaper is available to all schools and homes across the UK. Published six times a year and used in more than 5,600 primary, middle and secondary schools across the UK to support English, Literacy, Citizenship and PSHE. The Newspaper is designed to engage children in the world around them by addressing the news in an accessible and exciting way. The Football Kit

In each pack there are 6 copies of a fiction book ('Foul Play'), 'The History of Football' (non-fiction), and 'Football Facts and Figures' (non-fiction). There are also teacher's resource books for each of these titles, which include detailed lesson plans and photocopiable sheets. Price for the whole pack is £89
