Non-RTG literacy activity

In 2006 The Stags took part in Kick into Reading, with trained Football in the Community coaches delivering stories to local children.

In 2000, MTFC nominated thw whole team as Reading Champions.

The club started a RIF project in 2002, although currently this project is on hold. Children paired up with players as reading buddies, and received their books at presentations on the pitch at half time. MTFC also has links with Derbyshire literacy organisation Read On-Write Away!, working with children in after-school projects. The children who benefited from the RIF project came from a mixture of ROWA! children and a family learning group. Players helped children to choose their free books .
