RTG initiatives

Non-RTG literacy activity

Ipswich Town's study support centre is one of the 10 football clubs who received an initial grant from Reading The Game to run a RIF project in 2002. The scheme continued throughout the 2003/2004 season and provided over 400 books to nearly 150 children.

The 'Tractor boys' worked with 60 students from Years 6 and 10 for their first year.

The study support centre has partnered with the local Waterstones to provide even more free books for the young people attending the centre, and even have their own 'library trolley' of top reads.

The DfES, in partnership with the British Council, has now developed "Playing for Success International." Six football clubs in the UK have been linked with partners overseas and Ipswich are working alongside colleagues in Ghana. An exciting new project has been developed and they've made a website to share their work with the rest of the world.

The club's RIF project is currently on hold.
