Non-RTG literacy activity

Coventry City's study support centre is one of the 10 football clubs who received a grant from Reading The Game to run a RIF project during 2002/2003.

The project ran for 14 disadvantaged children, and 6 from an excluded group (for three terms). Children visited Waterstones as part of the project. The centre itself is a Partnership Centre (one of six in the city) which provides opportunities for local businesses with staff training.

In addition to the RTG grant which provided books for 60 children, the centre spent an extra £1,200 on an additional 100 children.

In March 2001, David Reed, of the Warwickshire Library Service set up a promotion with Bedworth Library. Coventry City FC provided a signed football, some match tickets and a table football game to support the library initiative which was aimed at encouraging Year 7s at a local comprehensive.
