About Reading The Game (RTG)

RTG is an initiative run by the National Literacy Trust (NLT) which works to promote reading, writing, and speaking and listening for all ages through the motivational power of sport.

Background
RTG has been in existence since 2002.

How RTG works

  • our projects deliver activities directly to our target beneficiaries - these are complemented by campaign activity and follow-up resources

  • we provide football clubs with meaningful and achievable ways in which they can use their influence to promote literacy in their communities

  • we help to facilitate and share good practice, contributing to and leading workshops and seminars

Who RTG works with

  • we have established partnerships with all of the major football bodies
  • we help non-sport organisations such as libraries and schools tap into the motivational force of football
  • we aim focus on specific target groups that most need and will most benefit from our work
