Cumbria Reading Intervention
Reading Intervention is a research-based phonological programme for working with children who are experiencing difficulties with the development of early literacy skills. The project has been supported by Cumbria County Council since the early 1990s. Teachers and teaching assistants can be trained in delivering the programme.

Jolly Learning published the Jolly Phonics programme, and this site includes a free downloadable guide as well as online information on the 42 main sounds of English taught as part of Jolly Phonics.

Reading Reform Foundation
UK branch of the Reading Reform Foundation, set up in 1989 and based on an American model. RRF advocates the teaching of synthetic phonics as the way to improve children's literacy. The RRF committee includes Professor Diane McGuinness (author of Why Children Can't Read), Dr Bonnie MacMillan (author of Why Schoolchildren Can't Read), Sue Lloyd (co-author of Jolly Phonics) and Debbie Hepplewhite.
