Pushing The Envelope
Pitney Bowes charity auction raises over £11,000 for the NLT

The National Literacy Trust worked with Pitney Bowes once again this year to raise funds with Pushing The Envelope 2005. We asked a number of famous faces to contribute individual designs to envelopes, and these original works of art were framed and auctioned on ebay in October.

48 celebrity-designed envelopes went under the hammer, including Sir Ian McKellen's excellent Gandalf sketch (right), and fantastic designs by Raymond Briggs, Joanne Harris, Jacqueline Wilson and Rod Campbell. The hottest property, however, was an original by Damien Hirst.

The auction raised over £11,000 for the work of the National Literacy Trust. Our thanks must go to Pitney Bowes for their support of this fundraising event - www.pitneybowes.co.uk.
